causes of heartburn in a sixteen year old girl?

Posted by admin

she’s been having heartburn all through the night and sometimes in the day. Usually when laying down and it’s accompanied by nausea in the morning when she starts to move around. Ideas and suggestions?

well with just that bit of info its hard to say. but it could be just food sensitivity. are u a parent looking for something secret?
sounds just like heartburn. when she lays down that would make it worse since the stomach acid has a straight and easy shot up the esophagus to get up there and give here that sensation.

did she try any antacids? rolaids, tums etc? not a prilosec type med, that prevents it from occuring as much, not stop it when it is already happening.

as far as the nausea, well it could be related… stomach acid might maker her feel nauseated cuz its not pleasant tasting or feeling.
or it could not be related at all, just that theres something in her stomach from the nite before that is usetting it.

goto doctor or try the over the counter stuff rolaids tums to see if it relieves it a bit, then a prilosec once a day or so to keep it at bay. but if u gonna give her medicine to take everyday, have a doctor check it out.
and don’t ignore it, it can lead to probs later. like esophageal cancers, ulcers, etc

Good cure for heartburn?

Does anyone have a good natural cure for heartburn? I just have this pain in my chest and the burps. Alka selzer is okay, but I’d like to try something new.

Don’t fool around. You should have it checked out or you could have a life long sentence.

You could try the Zantac 75, or the prilosec OTC. Both should help, and if they do it confirms that you should see a doc.

My dad has heartburn and he wants to know what is causing it, can you give me in much detail all the things that could be causing it please.

heartburn is caused by stomach acid traveling up and burning the esophagus (food pipe) this can be caused by lying down after eating food. you should allow 2 hours before lying down.
eating heavy meals can cause it
certain foods such as spicy foods and pepper mint
milk increases the amount of acid produced
being over weight can cause it
bending over at the waist
eating too fast and not chewing food properly
elevating the bed can stop it happening at night

you can resolve the problem with antacids

Heartburn relief/cure?

I have heartburn non-stop for the last two days. Antacid hasn’t helped. Does anyone know of any cures to relieve it? Thanks

i assume in the past 2 days you have eaten more food to continue the ‘heartburn’ . Take a close look at what you eat. Something that help me with acid reflux is Yogurt and live digestive enzymes like kefir or kombucha teas .

Talk to your DR about you diet and how you can fix this Without a lifelong prescription. good luck

What causes heartburn and how can it be prevented?

Despite its name, heartburn has nothing to do with the heart. (Some of the symptoms, however, are similar to those of a heart attack or heart disease.) Heartburn is an irritation of the esophagus that is caused by stomach acid.

With gravity’s help, a muscular valve called the lower esophageal sphincter, or LES, keeps stomach acid in the stomach. The LES is located where the esophagus meets the stomach — below the rib cage and slightly left of center. Normally it opens to allow food into the stomach or to permit belching; then it closes again. But if the LES opens too often or does not close tight enough, stomach acid can reflux, or seep, into the esophagus and cause a burning sensation.

Occasional heartburn isn’t dangerous, but chronic heartburn can indicate serious problems and can develop into gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Heartburn is a daily occurrence for about 10% of Americans and up to 50% of pregnant women. It’s an occasional nuisance for 30% of the population.

What Causes It?
The basic cause of heartburn is an underactive lower esophageal sphincter, or LES, that doesn’t tighten as it should. Two excesses often contribute to this problem: too much food in the stomach (overeating) or too much pressure on the stomach (frequently from obesity or pregnancy). Certain foods commonly relax the LES, including tomatoes, citrus fruits, garlic, onions, chocolate, coffee, alcohol, caffeinated products, and peppermint. Dishes high in fats and oils (animal or vegetable) often lead to heartburn, as do certain medications. Stress increases acid production and can cause heartburn. And smoking, which relaxes the LES and stimulates stomach acid, is a major contributor.

Heartburn relief is what causes my heartburn, Help!!!?

I was looking online at a lot of heartburn relief remedies that people can make at home and I noticed so many of the foods that are supposed to help, such as banana’s are what actually causes my instant heartburn. When I say instant I mean it literally. Take banana’s . As soon as I start to swallow a bite of one it’s heartburn city right away. Why do you think this is?? I know I should go to a gastroenterologist , which in time I will . But at the moment the thought of a tube with a camera going down my throat and into my stomach isnt exactly my idea of a good time. Any ideas on why banana’s are giving me such horrible acid reflux??
Dairy gives me heartburn too guys, which is why I try to avoid the stuff.

Try taking a tonic of apple cider vinegar (two teaspoons in an 8 ounce glass of water) before meals along with some of the dietary and lifestyle changes mentioned in the reference below as an all natural way to alleviate occasional heartburn symptoms or as a preventative practice.
